monit software package provides utility for monitoring and managing daemons or similar programs, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install monit
monit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the monit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep monit *
You will get with monit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
